James Bond & baddies figures

Changes of Bond and baddie figures:

These changes occurred at the same time as the box changes. This is not true!

So I would rather say the change to unpainted passengers and reduced paint on Bond was made during 1980, and not with the change of boxes for 1981! (The box has a 1980 print date but strangely has reverted to the 1977 copyright while an earlier “1:36” box with a 1979 print date also has a 1979 copyright!).

1983 DB5 has not a blue Bond (I only have this in the blue 1985 box!) but the same paint as the 1981 version. I believe that all Bond figures up to Mettoy's failure in October 1983 still were painted. Only later were unpainted figures in light brown or dark blue used.

And for the Corgi 271 in 1984 box with the two brown figures I believe this is perfectly factory correct.

As written above, I think the passengers started to be unpainted during 1980, and Bond and passenger stayed the same until Mettoy's insolvency in October 1983.
